Suzue Sealed Hub Assembly

Just pulled a wheelset out of storage to fit on a build and the front hub has some movement in it :-\
The bearings have a slight horizontal movement with the axle. All the nuts (were tight) are off but the axle seems to want to stay in place.
So how do you remove the axle and bearings on these? I don't want to mash them up ;)

stick a wheelnut back on and leave it flush with the end of the axle, then tap it with a hammer hitting the nut instead of the axle so as you dont damage the threads on it. the axle should have a raised collar inbetween the two bearings, this is what will knock the bearing out, once you have one knocked out (no pun intended) put the axle back in and do the same for the other bearing.

As above - the only way of getting sealed bearings out. Sometimes tho you knacker the bearings removing em so be sure you need to remove them.

Are the bearings moving in their entirity with the axle or just the bearing centres? If it's the centres the bearings are cacked and time to go on ebay for some new ones (just search for the bearing type that written around the rubber seal area on them). If the bearings are moving slighty in their hub sockets, then a tap back in to seat them may work - get a piece of tubing or similar that'll only touch the outer metal shell of the bearings (and not the rubber seals) and tap them back in a bit - if they're still loose, either the outer shell of the bearing has worn, or worse the inner cup that the bearing sits in in the hub has worn - bit of aluminium shim can sort that though (seen people use foil before).  :daumenhoch:

Excellent ;)

Thanks lads :daumenhoch:
All apart now, it looks like someone in the past had used grease on them.

Also one of the bearings doesn't sit flush up against the axle knuckle.
Looks like there's a small lip. I'll try and file it back, see what happens ???

Problem sorted :) Even with the bearing flush up against the knuckle there was still some movement.
I didn't want to crush the bearings or hub so just used a couple of shims, same diameter as the bearing but with slightly larger hole.
Worked a treat. Thanks again :daumenhoch:
