Oury grips
« on: January 30, 2011, 06:23 PM »
I'm on the lookout for a pair of black Oury grips, are there originals and re-pops about? BMX and MX types? what are the differences? MX i assume have a larger internal diameter for the twist grip or have i got EVERYTHING wrong.  any advice please?

i think oury have always made the grip.the  only differance in the new to the old is that one of them(not sure which) has a ribbed section that butts up to the flange whereas the other is smooth, and yes be careful not to buy mx grips cos of the twist grip :daumenhoch:

put some black ones up for sale earlier and removed them as they are MX type - I had no idea, they fitted fine with hairspray but one hole is slighty larger than the other (is that not always the way  :2funny:)

 :-X

£7 if anyone needs any!  ;)

Sid,is the twist grip side like a pr#ck in a bucket fit or still tight on the bars? only wanted for a carpet queen.

you can put insulation tape around your bars for the twist grip one  :daumenhoch:

The OGK mach didn't have the ribbed bit and that was a spec grip on a few old school bikes bitd.

The very early oury grips (early 70's up to about 79) had no ribs and then 79/80 to about 82 they had the ribs and then they went bust. The new remakes also have the ribs as Glynn said.

side note :

i have a set of the old ones and they feel like like right rubber, not so powdery as some other grips but work well

i also bought a set for a mates ride in red of the new one's on ebay - they have a very soft feel and not solid rubber feel of the old - with in 6 months they got sticky and started to degrade - they almost felt like one of those sticky rubber toy things that you throw up a window and watch it walk down it !

cheers B  ;)
