Cheers mate. :daumenhoch:

Regarding the ahem ' Stu Thomsen' ahem 180s, Basically I've been reliably informed that these are definitely NOT his old cranks so glad thats cleared up. It makes my decision about which cranks to fit easier as had I found out that these were owned by Stompin Stu I would have wanted to keep them. However, as the chrome on the 175mm cranks is slightly better, I'll probably end up fitting those and getting rid of the 180s.

Hopefully more parts soon! :)

The Laserlite's came stock fitted with Sugino stamped 400 cranks which were commissioned by Redline.

The didn't become redline stamped until a year or so later.

Also the laserlite came standard with 180's not 175's so if you want it to be correct use the 180's and sell the 175's.

Ahh Ok. Thanks!  :) Dont think I've ever seen a sugino stamped 400s. Might sell them both and hang out for a set of those then

Thanks for the info on teh crank length! Much appreciated! :daumenhoch:

Yeah, I had Sugino stamped 180's on my Laser lite. It's a habit calling them Redlines. I guess it's because most bikes had 401's rather than 400's!

Go withthe 180's, especially if you want to ride it

 Hey all :)

Right, managed to get a few more bits and pieces over the last few weeks which has meant I can finally start to put it together! ;)

This is the new stash of parts

Finally managed to get a Genuine minty laserpost from a guy from hong kong. Well happy but will put a new sticker on it as the one it has on is not straight

Mint Dia Compe MX1000 from speight9587 - thanks Mark

NOS OGK Cobra Grips bought off the bay

NOS Hatta MX-II headset in black  from sunny California! This was the part i was really waiting for so I could start building it up! Well chuffed :)

Lovely Elina Aero Turbo seat bought from the same top guy I got the Laser Bars off but might put a new sticker on if I can get hold of one.

So had a bit of fun yesterday and started to build up the bits i've got. Put on the Headset and forks. The black looks great against the chrome and Bodamus pm'd me to say the Oval TRX's were correct so glad thats cleared up! Cheers Ian. :)

Suntour Stem went on next! much as I like the look of the Hatta headset lock, I need a suntour Headset lock to replace it so if anyone has a black minty one they want to part with, let me know by PM :daumenhoch:

Lastly, on went the laser bars and post. Really quite chuffed with the way its coming together.

Cant put the brake, seat or grips on yet as got no guts for the seat, the caliper spindle needs modifying and I want to get the Tech 3 lever before i put the grips on so this is it for now.

Hey all,

Right, Call me fussy but after some more letching at some of the LaserLites on Jamies Kuwahara site and after blowing my budget for this build out of the water, I decided that If I was going to do it japenese factory spec then I'd have to bite the bullet and get some 180mm Sugino Stamped 400's and try and off load the Titanium spindled Redline Stamped 400s I'd bought for it! :idiot2:

So after a couple of weeks of searching, I found these in the good old US of A. Everything about them is Mint and they could easily pass as NOS. Their OG chrome and have been really well looked after. Theres not even a scratch on the face of the bearing cups! :smitten: The pictures dont really do them justice! Really chuffed!

Just need a black chainring now and its ready to fit!

That means my Redline stamped 400's are up for grabs and in the for sale section now..

 :LolLolLolLol: Very true squire!

Now, this may be a stupid question but I've not done it before so I'll ask forgiveness now....whats the best way to push the bearing cups into the frame and what side do the lock nuts go? Drive arm Crank or non drive arm? :uglystupid2:

Thanks :daumenhoch:

Er being the genius I am, I have just figured out that the locknuts can actually only go on the non drive arm and that was indeed the most stupid question I have ever asked! :-[ sorry!
