VDC restoration. BIG JOB!!!!!
« on: March 27, 2011, 05:29 AM »
I got a VDC Changa off ebay. Some of you will have seen it. I have been after a Changa for ages. It needed quite a bit of work but a really unique opportunity and thought what the hell let's do a full resto job! Voris Dixon is working wonders on it right now. The first Changa he has done a resto job on since working on them since the 1980's. Very exciting. Only thing is I need forks and decals which will be a long shot. Any tips at all. I am from the UK but based in Australia at the mo. Ta

Give Del a try for the decals mate, he might be able to help you out.  As for the forks, I reckon you've either got to be A) very patient and watch ebay sites and forums around the world, or B) Find a non VDC that looks right and dont worry about being spot  on.

I've just got back from 4 months in Oz, where are you based?
Neil, the bathroom's free. Unlike the country under the Thatcherite junta

Fook me judging by Voris Dixon's recent newschool VDC frames I would rather have Stevie Wonder work on my frame.

That's the one guys. Bit of a mess but Voris is building with exactly the same gauge tubing and also building some reproduction forks from the original spec. Pretty awesome really. Very excited to see what happens. Will document all as it moves along. Del is making some decals when the materials arrive. Cheers dudes.

No better man to sort it than the man himself, although his new stuff is definitely an acquired taste his work is still outstanding, this is a great project.

I've seen pics of him before in the workshop puffing away on the cigar while he builds.

Can he not do you some forks then?

PM me about monkey bars, though I do have NOS white Monkey Bars that I was thinking of getting plated. Bit of a shame. When the frame is done, Voris will tell me if it's good enough to chrome or powder. Be interested in price though? Cheers
