My first ride....
« on: March 26, 2011, 12:21 PM »
Someone is selling my first ride on fleabay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/old-school-rerto-bmx-bh-burner-chopper-grifter-era-/280649720731?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item415806e39b

It was heavy, not particularly attractive, had non standard dimensions everywhere, but I absolutely loved it.  :daumenhoch:

Should I or shouldn't I?  ::)

Only cost £30 back in the day; on the flea for £75!

Do it! Don't get your first bike come up too often. I'd buy my first tank if it came up

Definately buy it, you will regret it if you dont. If I ever see my first POS bmx on the bay I will end up paying way too much for it, I just know it

Yes, BH were Spanish. I have a BH BMX tandem in the garage that I'll never get around to if anyone wants to buy it lol

At the risk of being ex-communicated, I have made a very firm, logical and emotional decision....

I will not be buying it, and here's for why.....

Whilst I learned to race, hop, kickturn, rockwalk, 180, pogo, ally-oop, endo, "ET Endo" (see the other thread for this one) etc. on this bike, truth be known I fooking hated it!

She was heavy, unresponsive, steel, steel and more steel, Spanish, a cheap Burner Mk. 1 rip off, non standard dimensions (my dad had to have a pair of Tange TX500s my mates gave me cut up and rewelded at work to get them to fit - bless him), rusty, uncool, etc., etc..

All of my mates rode DB Streaks and Turbos, Burners, Haro FSTs, Gooses etc., and I rode the fooking red and yellow BH Cali with bits and pieces added over time.

I did eventually save up for a second hand Ultra Burner in Silever and Blue before snatching a DP Freestyler with Green Zeds at Polytechnic for a pittance, but I always have that bastard BH haunting me.

Why do you think I have skied the budget on my first build? Because it's the bike I never had.

That fooking Cali can go to a good home, and I will banish our love-hate relationship to my teenage in a moment of RAD catharsis........ and on my new (Griff special) UL Snakepost!  :daumenhoch:

 :angrysoapbox:

*ps* Note to self.... wash fingers after slicing red chillis and before going for a piss.... OUCH that smarts

Looking back on that an hour later that was quite a rant!

No wonder no one has replied.....

Shut up, Clean, and go to bed!
