Trueing Z-rims??
« on: March 23, 2011, 11:52 PM »
Hi all,

I have a set of pretty knackered Z-rims that I am despoking and rebuilding.  The front is fairly warped, but I'm assuming the old 80's tale of sticking them in the freezer is a load of b*llocks.  Is there any way I can get this wheel somewhere back to straight before I start bleaching etc?

Any help gratefully accepted

Cheers
Mark

When you build it you can straighten it with the spoke tension. :daumenhoch:

Nice one matey!  Dont know if I've the patience to lace em myself, might have to take em down the LBS and see what the costs are once I have some new hubs and the rims are clean again.   :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

Seriously?  That would be fantastic mate, I'm sure I could bung you a few notes as a sweetener!  Will be a while yet as I've want to get hold of some new hubs (unless the old ones clean up well enough).  I would have a go myself but I'm supposed to be rennovating my house and just cant spare the hours and the neighbours will moan at my language  ;D

I love you guys who I've never met.... :daumenhoch: :smitten:

Just for old time sake put em in the freezer and see what happens. I've always wanted to know.

I did it BITD - all that happens is the stuff you took out of the freezer to fit in the Z/Mag into the freezer defrosts, and your mum belts you.
