Swap old for new school?
« on: March 23, 2011, 08:35 AM »
Oh dear, saw a advert yesterday for a Fit Eddie 3 new school ride which has chrome forks/bars and tan walls and it got me thinking bugger it shall I jack in old school and get a new bike?

Reasons behind this as I'm bored paying through the nose for hard to get parts which if there not perfect I throw even more money at to get them powdered etc....

Does anybody ever feel like this or am I having a moment of madness, maybe now the suns here I should just get out on my Sport and enjoy it??

Cheers  :daumenhoch:

Robbo that pic did nothing to convince me, looks wrong!

I like the chrome forks though, kind wish I'd ordered my Pitchforks in chrome now.

I came of an old school bike last year an damages a few bits. Seat grips levers and before you know it it is over a ton to replace them so I now ride new school PK Rippers and cruise on my old school bikes.  :daumenhoch:

I agree with the others here...don't make a new school bike look old, they just end up looking like a mid-life crysis and shite.

IMO you can only get away with tan walls on a NS bike is if you're a little ramp rat on an all black bike, they then look really sweet.

Let a new school be new school and let old school stay in the house.

at the end of the day it's your bike so do it how you like it.

i ride a 2004 proper dolomite done up as a 88 haro sport (front black/red rest) with black parts.

looks retro, rides great. tanwalls too (khe lamellos on black st martin rims- similar to araya aero style) and i love it.

I like all of em  :LolLolLolLol:

Sweet Mid school set ups as long as you try and keep the weight down to around 30lbs

Full on moody stealthed up black N/S  rides

and even N/S with a touch of retro going on

If done to look well and more importantly ride well , it's a winner

If you're working to a budget , stick to it ,,, because,,,, just because it ain't ol' school doesn't mean it's gonna be cheap

You can build a mid or N/S and get to upto 1K quite easily  :)
