Joytech hubs and kinlin rims?????
« on: March 21, 2011, 06:24 PM »
I am trying to ID the wheels that came of the DP freestyler I am about to restore, they are 48 spoke, wide flange hubs with joytech on the hubs, the rims are like arayas but with no engraving, there is half a sticker on the rear rim, the question is, are these worthy of restoring with new spokes or not?

Not the best picture of the hub

Thanks for any info

48 hole would indicate mid school, not heard of them before but be good for a rider

I think they might be KinLin rims  :LolLolLolLol: never heard of them, they must have been slapped on the DP later on in it's life, joytech and kinlin seems to have been about around that time though, when did 48's start to get used?

Joytech and 'Kinell gear is really low-end stuff.  If they're alloy and will polish up it's probably worth doing them yourself for a rider but I wouldn't want to throw too much money at them if they were mine...

:) Fixed a puncture yesterday for a kid up the road-his bike is a year old & has KinLin rims.JoyTech are one of Taiwans biggest hub manufacturers & make everything from low-end stuff for cheap completes to fairly decent high end gear:)

Araya 7x,  Araya Aero,  Ukai Speedlines,  Proclass,  Skyways,  OGK,  Peregine Graphites and Z rims are all common place on DP's BITD

^^^^^^^ they all sound nice and cheap :LolLolLolLol: all the bikes I build are for riding so skyways will be the cheapest option but I find them quite heavy, so may try and find some 7x with nice sealed hubs :daumenhoch:

I've got 7x's on my curtis and another set of rims that need building up, might even have a go at building them myself , only thing is they are silver and a bit rough, would like to get some coloured shiny sides, but don't know what colour to go with !
