dx resto help please!!
« on: March 12, 2011, 05:03 PM »
ok so ive got a nice set of dx which sbd very kindly stripped off the og black paint remnants, the pedals after being in the stripper came out cloudy, not a problem as auto sol swiftly removes it but my problem is that auto sol goes black when poishing and fills in all the small perforations on the dx's surface leaving them a manky dark grey, whats the best way to get them back to a nice silver colour?i was thinking of auto soling them then maybe giving them a good scrub in a detergent or something to remove all the auto sol remnants from all the pitted areas.i dont really want to polish them as i want to keep the og brushed finish, any help appreciated chaps :daumenhoch:

As above used washing up liquid and the best nail brush !
I've given almost everything in the kitchen cupboard a go. Cif is quite good as well but will take a bit of the shine off something thats been polished.
I also tried Shiny Sinks (actually a stainless steel cleaner) on bits of my historic kart engine and that worked quite well and left the finish a bit matt. I wonder if it etched the alloy a bit.

My only worry is that by mixing all this stuff up I will blow the kitchen up !
