Tight Spot..............
« on: November 21, 2012, 11:01 AM »
Once again a fookin MEGA tight spot in the new chain on my latest build last night. Every build this happens!  :tickedoff:  All seems straight, spins nicely, lined up well, chain on, then sh*t.   I'm guessing if each component is even slightly out/bent etc then it's gonna happen.   ???

Do you have a chain tool? Try pushing the pin through a nic ever so slightly either way you may find its a nads cock out.....ive had this a few times if the chains been split the pin may not be in its original place  :daumenhoch:

chain ring bolts too, if that's not on straight you end up with a nice oval rotation.  :daumenhoch:

I know you'll have checked but :)

Chain-line - all straight from the freewheel to sprocket?

Rear wheel aligned correctly?

Has the sprocket bolt (if they're 3-piece cranks) pulled the sprocket out of line slightly?

Bottom bracket in flush?

Sprocket teeth not worn?

Chain off the bike - all links move freely?

undo everything and let the chain find its correct alignment, then do it all up in the right place
