anyone made their own number plate?
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:04 AM »
evening all

while lying awake and thinking about bmx it occurred to me that a number plate might be a useful thing to put on my haro for the london-brighton run (we'll be issued with 'race' numbers after all and I thought I could maybe put sponsors' names on it  8))

as flo panels etc seem to go for silly money and I'm only likely to use it a handful of times tops I wondered whether I could put something together that would do the job any better than a cardboard cut-out...then I thought it would be cool to find out if anyone's got any pics of their own creations, love to see what you might have codged together

let's see some pics of your marvellous creations, prize for the winner  :4_17_5:

will have a look later -

anyway I still want to see other people's home-made specials - found a thread on some other site at lunchtime showing people how to do this
just need some flexible plastic, cardboard for template, scissors and a craft knife (hang on starting to sound like blue peter)

bet someone's got some pics  :daumenhoch:

I'm going to send the cutter guides off to a plastics manufaturer, they'll pop it on the cnc machine overnight and it should be back within a couple of days. Just need to get my act together and send the drawings off.

Plastics companies are all over the place and there not that expensive to use

I think I'm going to have a bash at making a plate myself, need a big one if I'm going to put sponsor names on it so have knocked up a rough version in photoshop to see what it might look like. will try and make something like a haro series 1b without the holes & slots and take it from there

anyone know the dimensions of these plates? top to bottom of panel or width of panel would be very handy  :daumenhoch:

Even if the fox logo can't be removed, there is nothing stopping you sticking a sheet of vinyl (in the colour of your choice) on there.

These A4 sheets would work.   :daumenhoch:
