someone on here was trying to put gears on a bmx - can't remember who at the mo but they were looking to do a sturmey archer-type job
there's probably a good reason that's a 'one-off' 

would be handy for the london to brighton ride in september though, some of those hills are quite steep

it was paul ,,,, think they did two speed ,,,,, hole shot for a quicker start ,,then change gear

5 speed sturmey archer.     To  make a 20" more of a tourer.

Sounds crazy and it probably is..................but if we didn't experiment then we'd be stuck with the penny farthing!!

Plus its a laff!!!

Bigplinky (Andy Lincoln ) has a Browning 2 gear set up on his Maximum 

It a double front chainringset up though , rather than a rear derailleur you've shown 

I've had a go and it is fooking top quality smooth , very nice technical mechanism from the early 80's 

It won a BOTM a few years ago I think
