Who are the judges for the MK show and shine?  Or rather how does the judging process work?

Hey Glen,
I think it's normally Stodgy, Dave and Billy who judge the categories - perhaps with some help from other Rad moderators now [  I missed last year] and also do their Bike Of The Show prize too.
Im sure that actually it is more complex than that, but as far as Im aware that is how it works.
Always worthy winners every year too, so they defo do it right!

Thread Hijack (slightly)

I've noticed a few regions announcing dates for summer regionals so I presume that National dates are sorted too.

Can we please have the MK11 date sorted ASAP so that people who want to book their summer holidays can avoid that weekend so that they can attend.

I enjoyed MK10 (from what I remember  :crazy2:) but I thought that numbers were down slightly and a few of the familiar faces (although still fugly) were missing last year........also racing attendance was down too on the previous year.

Plus it might make MADD DOGG attend after missing at least the last 2 years due to family holidays with his better half and kids.   I only point this out because he owes me a tinny!!  :LolLolLolLol:

Numbers were up last year believe it or not...

20% More Show n Shine entries and many more feet on the street than MK09.

Show n Shine rules and regs will be published as soon as a date is decided on.

Rule of thumb though...Concourse not Custom/Repro wins the prizes.

But there are prizes for Highly Commended - bike that look the part, but aren't quite era correct...so don't worry!!

yeah the show and shine must be mega hard job to judge for sure so many bikes in each catagory and so many era correct and mint perfect ,thankless task whilst the rest of us are enjoying ourselves for sure .
judges usually pull it out the bag and you can understand the winners everytime though

i noticed at Mk 10,lots of the bikes tha had a lot of polished parts on them.

On polishing front most of the parts would not have been polished when they left the factory

i see polishing of parts that werent orignally polished as "custom" which you put in a similar category to Repro.

what is the judges stance on this?

btw im not saying polished parts dont look good, they do, i just think they are custom :daumenhoch:

Polished parts are generally marked down in S&S because more often than not they were'nt offered like that when new . I can understand why polishing goes on when it's much easier & quicker to do than re-finishing a part correctly . The most extreme cases of this are a DB Turbo ( or two ? ) "restored" by an ex member purely for re-sale where the rims, stem, brakes, levers, seatclamp were polished instead of having them re-chromed like they had left the factory originally .

Amazingly i'll be putting 4 bikes in this year  one of them will have some polished calipers on it but that's about it. Really looking forward to MK11  :smitten:  :daumenhoch:
