Chuck Robinson (among others) had a road bike background.  When BMX bikes starting to come out of the stone ages, people like Chuck who worked at LRV and DG put a little of that road influence on those bikes.

The front end is actually pretty light, that fork is aluminium and weight wise it was slighter lighter than a conventional fork and stem.

I ran it on my little brother's 15.5 lb bike back in the day.
