BMX Neighbours
« on: December 13, 2010, 03:54 PM »
We moved to this street of Epping about 3 years ago, and only really over the last year or so have we really been seeing our neighbours and having drinks with them etc... anyway yesterday we had a few over for Xmas drinks/buffet etc.. and we all got chatting. Now this is where things getting a little strange. My neighbour next door (albeit very private guy and not on any forums) is Simon Jones NBMXA champion and was a robinson factory rider and rode with Chris Hoy etc.. Paul across the road had his Redline until he was about 21 until it was nicked outside of his dad's restaurant and we're now in the process of re-building that, and further down the road is another chap called Paul. Now this Paul hasn't been around ours before but I know he goes out mountain biking etc.. anyway me and the 2 paul's were chatting and this Paul said, "I know you may think this is odd guys, but I used to BMX and only last year I bought myself a PK Ripper, and my brother bought one too, they were the reissue ones and we were trying some endo's the other night, did you both used to ride bmx?", me and this other Paul looked at each other and cracked up. Paul said "Do you know what Matt does in his spare time?" he said "No?" .... "Well, I think you better come and see all his stuff". Anyway took him out to the utility room and showed him a tuff in bleach, two sets of vectors and some forklifter bars, DX pedals, MKS graphites etc.. all stuff being restored and you should have seen his face lol, then upstairs to the office to show him my Masters then into the loft room to show him some parts and frames. He couldn't believe it and thought it was so weird that all 4 of us in the road are into old school bmx. The rest of the evening we spent drinking, chatting about parts and frames and were they used to ride and that  :D
