Redline Cruiser and Mini, 11.12.2010 update
« on: December 20, 2009, 04:11 PM »
After having my wife's Redline cruiser stolen and her keep saying mine rides better than her old one. Quad Pete put a Redline Proline F&F  for sale so a deal was done. I've trawled through the museum on here and on Bmxmuseum for inspiration and I'm going to do another retro theme. I'm hoping to get it done in time for the New Year RAD bash at Corby. The bike will be used for the school run and at our club races.
The frame is in very good condition, But the decal application is a P.O.E.T.S day job.
The decals will be coming off in any case but they are all pi$$ed, Just look at the one's on top of the seat stays. I like reading and seeing the build threads on here and hope you like mine.

The forks have some rust spots on them, So will give them a vinegar bath and a polish

The decals have all been removed now, Just needs stripping of paint and a visit to Dan. It also now has a little friend. ::)

Think i'll just clean and re-sticker the little one.

Here's the mini fork drop outs having a bath

That looks like the same Candy Red that SBD did for me on my Hoffman, it's a gorgeous colour and gets better as the paint settles down. :daumenhoch:

Got some wheels in need of some TLC, Thanks JJ. DK sealed hubs and Sun Rhyno Lite rims.
Radial laced front

Rear is radial laced on non-drive side and cross pattern on drive side, Only seen this once before. I like it.

Gave the rear a quick scrub

Got some Tioga comp 3's at the weekend Fat/Thin and all black.

Will be sweet when its built Gary, the wheel should clean up OK  ;)

What a bout a retro feel on on it with some of the repop PL24 decals on it?

Ahead of you there JJ, I bought 3 sets of decals.

The set that you suggested are going on my race bike, The top set. Fancied a change for the new season :daumenhoch:

MX-11 set is for the mini
And the bottom set are for this project, But I keep looking and thinking the downtube decal is to small for the fat tube. Might have to get onto Del.

Been on the back burner for awhile. But got some more done on both of these.
Mini ended up at Dan's. Had a bad moment when I put the white fork decals on the mini forks, Luckily they came off no problems and went on the cruiser forks and stuck :-[
The cruiser rims went to dans and are the same colour as the mini black. Need to polish up the sides abit though.

Mum and son together :LolLolLolLol:

The MX-11 seat tube decals are too big as are the headtube decal.

I have a grip dilema. AME Tri's new type logo or Odyssey team grip's that look like Sharp 1:11's and are more comfy. :-\ :-\

Mini now done and was at MK10. Son doesn't like it, Wants it candy red :D

Trimmed up one of the seat tube decals to fit the headtube.
The cruiser will be done very soon, Too scared to have a go at re-building the wheels as they was. So got someone to build them normal.
My race cruiser has also had a face lift. SBD yellow. Was thinking about the 1985 Proline decals, But on closer inspection the bike was looking scruffy so went straight for the colour change. Have to say thanks to Ron2elliotBurgundy for posting a pic of a yellow Proline and inspiring the colour choice. Again this bike was at MK10, Just minus the decals which were held up in customs and turned up on the Tuesday after MK. :2gunsfiring_v1:

Thanks to Gashead, pulled the blanket off the cruiser and had another play, Bought some white walls for my wifes pink FreeAgent cruiser last week and have been thinking what they would look like on this?
Now cant decide between the Comp 3 and Whitewalls. The fat comp 3 looked too fat on the front. White walls make it look abit like a beach cruiser, But I think they go well with the black bits and pick up on the white in the decals.
What do you guys think?

I like em both for different reasons - come down to, how you going to ride it - 'street' or 'off road'?
