don't know if this has been threaded before

Porkchop in US is selling these. From what I've read he seems to have arranged a lot of the latest rereleases from DC

seen 901's and bulldogs and loads of small parts

so will this bring down the high price of original dia compe brakes ?

will peeps settle for re-issue gear and not want to pay the higher price of old gear ?

AFAIK they aren't exact copies so I don't think they will affect the price of the originals that much if at all and they aren't doing MX900's (yet anyway).

Don't now much much better they'll be than the snides already available   :-\

well i hope they are better than the £19.99 jobs on there at the mo

would be nice to have a cheaper style set to sit in the middle that would suit rider bikes or replace cheap copys on some builds

just finishing a MT Racing silver fox with copys - but would so much better with these on it  ;)

Hard to tell from the photo's, but the quality on those looks sh!te doesn't it?, they do look like the real poor quality copies, ok, they've got QR's on, but they don't even look close on quality to originals.

If I were buying, and couldn't go old DC, i'd rather put some Lee chi or similar on than them!

Don't think quality is there  :'(
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

they look a bit better than the ebay add pic but seemed not to be stamped on the front and that lump of metal on the side

+1 with all those comments, they look similar like formos and lee chi's do but they aint the real deal and if I was putting an era build back together they just wouldnt do for me Im afraid.

No Wienman Adjuster, wrong shaped QR, wrong pads; maybe ok for a rider but not for my builds  :-X

Pretty poor effort from Dia Compe but props to Pork Chop for trying.  This quote is from the BMXMuseum thread...

Porkchopzz4

First off, these are "real" Dia-Compe brakes.. because they're made by Dia-Compe. But, as discussed about 2 years ago, when I started getting brakes re-made by Dia-Compe, the tooling for most items, including the MX1000's, no longer existed. Dia-Compe has made new tooling, and that is what is used to make these brakes. They are not meant to be exact copies nor did Dia-Compe attempt to make them exactly the same as the originals (for one thing, they wanted to use hardware they had on the shelf).

The MX logo is laser engraved - back when it was stamped as part of the drop forge tooling, that was the first bit that wore out on the tool.

Price should be similar to that of the 883's... maybe a couple bucks more based on the fact I'm going to have to rent some additional space to store this huge order

Maybe that explains the issues which have been pointed out.  They aren't that much better than those ebay knock-offs IMO which is a shame but good news for the collectors who plan to retire on their profits when they sell up.   ;D

True, i've seen better copies than these about even some floating around rad over time. Some of Pork chops stuff is good like the dominators but these look shite.

if there gonna remake stuff, why don't they talk to the peeps that know there stuff ?  i can see that they didn't want to make a copy of the org, but why not make some thing that is pleasing to the bmxers eye and not just the pocket of dia compe ?

i would put them on a rider but at the price they seem to be it might be worth saving for some real one's - cheaper price would have made it easier to look at

cheers B  ;)

They do look like them snide ones from the 80's don't they. The one thing that gave MX1000 the edge was the adjuster and these don't seem to have them. Pretty funny eh? even Dia Compe can't get them right  :P

I don't really see why DC would even bother remaking them... i cant see many os collectors using them and no ns or young kids are going to buy them.  Surely the revenue they are going to generate aint going to be up to much

are they from dia compe, or some john de bruin  asshole special.
some tit will have them in bike of the month though, with re-issue profiles and re-pop hutch pedals, re-pop b1b's, re-pop comp3's, etc.etc..
about as old school as a ps3 and 3d tv's
ding dong
