removing paint/anodized finish on s&m redneck xlt

Newbie question(probably daft).i've purchased a stem as listing, just want to know is it paint or anodized finish,so i can strip it back properly.

pretty sure the original finish is anodised.

tried a bit of "ZAP" oven cleaner i had under the sink, seemed to go frothy,but no colour came off so thinking maybe it's paint ?
