Axle size for recent Floval Flyer cranks?
« on: October 28, 2010, 10:48 AM »
I've obtained some decent Floval Flyer crank arms to go on my cruiser, about 2-3 years old I reckon. They are 8-spline, single pinch, fairly standard looking.
Does anyone know if I need a 19mm or 20mm axle for these?

ta for any help, Jon
(I'm thinking about getting the axle and sealed BB kit from Alans which is for 19mm)

Thanks for the info James  :daumenhoch:

Don't some 20mm go to 19mm where the splines are? If so, would a 19mm axle work if used with the correct sized bearings? Basically can I get hold of a BB&axle kit to fit these SE cranks ???
eg

:) All the ones I`ve seen taper to 19mm outside the bearings,ie where the sprocket fits on.Alans did have the full 19mm8 spline axle & bearings kit for £30.Seems steep to me as I got a full crankset with bb for £40!

jon

dont get the d20/gusset one the spindle is really long and need loads of spacer.

a lad at our track bought the whole crankeset and had a mare with it.

if the splines fit get the 19mm one

Cheers guys!
I know that I could get cheap 3 piece cranks but I'm not comfortable with 175s, which most of the cheaper ones are.
I got the 180mm SE cranks including top hat, bolt and chainwheel for a tenner posted which is why I'm just after an axle and BB kit.

Marc - I thought it might be that. I put a NS 3 piece crank from James on my dad's Falcon Pro cruiser and that did need a lot of spacers but it actually works very well.

BUMP - anyone?

As well as I can measure it, it looks to be 19mm but I don't want to waste money on kit that won't fit  :-\

Cheers Greg, I should have thought of that!
I'm fairly sure they do fit a 19mm axle so I've ordered a cheap axle and sealed US BB kit from Custom Riders.
