Orange z rims and bits resto
« on: November 10, 2010, 10:14 PM »
Finally got some orange z rims after looking for ages and when they arrived i was well gutted, the rims really grubby but the hubs and spokes where rough as a badgers arse. So i`ve taken them apart and had a go at the hubs. Here are some pics of my progress so far....
Just waiting for the spokes to be posted then i`ll have a go at rebuilding them, hope i don`t scratch my hubs in the process.

they should look nice when built up, white spokes and black nipples would look sweet as, where did you get the orange z'ds?

Hi yep iv`e` got white with black nips i`m copying this  i know i shouldn`t  be copying someone else`s idea but i think it looks amazing. i was looking at your post with the white z`s you did a good job on them. Have you ever done orange? i`m just wondering if i keep at it with wet and dry will they get brighter like your white ones or might orange not have the same results, cheers oh and i got them off ebay they looked ok on the pic.

Weird....  Have you seen my thread on page 2 this forum section re: dyeing z rims? I too love the white/orange pk ripper (the one on bmxmuseum.com?). I was looking to replicate this bike & colour combination myself.  I think the white/orange combo is the best around. Great find in getting orange z rims.... I didn't know they were ever officially produced in that colour. I have a few acs ads from 84/85 & they only seemed to come in red/yellow/blue/white/black & lilac, although i have seen the odd green pair around. Cant wait to see it finished. Good luck with the build.

Dam! Spent most of the weekend trying to lace the front wheel but i couldn't get it right the spokes kept ending up longer on one side of the wheel and as a result of the spokes been in and out of the hub many times the paint flaked around the holes, then the spoke key fell off a spoke and onto the hub chipping it! So i will have to repaint it.and paint the nipples cos the paint wore off them.So no progress today.
