Ive been offered one and the seller reckons the frame is the same as an 80s loopy is this correct

No.Retro ones have different geometry,much longer,v-brake mounts and 1 1/8 heatube.The Retro isn`t really a reissue,more a new school bike with similar looks to the old ones and much more user friendly if you want to actually ride it.I have one for sale.

as above moza , there was one on here other week may still be here and it was cheap , these are not made the same as the usa made ones , better than the retro ripper is a 1990's usa made one they are really nice and not too dear

I couldn't ride the old school ripper,the top tube was too short for me (19" ?? 19.5" ??) I kept whacking my knees on the bars...so I bought a 2006 Ripper (not looptail) and I've had no probs (even though its only an inch longer...no jokes thank you). Its something to bear in mind as I had to get rid of my Diamond Back Silver Streak for the same reason (again short top tube).

Maybe I've just got long legs or something odd like that
