Re: CW Cali Boulevard Resto *Frame and Forks done!!!!! (Sort of)*
« Reply #126 on: May 19, 2011, 08:15 PM »
OK,
So Frame Forks & Bars arrived with Dan safely and have been given the SBD treatment. Finish as always is just  :smitten:
Drive arm side of the frame look the absolute bollocks , and I'm well fookin chuffed with the colour  :daumenhoch:

Now I've been chattin to Dan about this on and off for the last couple of days as the Non Drive Arm Side unfortunatley didn't come out as well, we dont know if the frame got damaged in transit form the chromers to Dan or wot has happened but the rear triange, Foot Plate and from the BB to the gusset is peppered with wot look like rub marks / scratches under the Candy  :'(

The Forks are stunning and the bars are remainin chrome but the frame is Boxed up ready to go back to Dan tomorrow to be stripped back to chrome so we can take a look at wot the Marks are, I'm kinda hgoping they are just a little bit of tape residue or some scratches that will polish, who knows. Appreciate Dan doing this for me as he has said once the frame is sorted he'll do again FOC.  :4_17_5: Top Bloke is Dan, Thanks again Fella.

Absolutely stunning. Shame about the non-driveside,  you've certainly been through the mill with this frame. Hang in there.

Cant wait to see this finished.

Matt, was going to be a show build, problem is I've spent so much on a paint job, haven't really got the money for some parts i wanted to put on it  :-\, so will probably use it for the summer if i have it finished in time  ;D Even if i ride it though i want to get it as close to perfect as i can ;)

WOW!!

That finish is awesome, god that's going to look something extra special when done.
Shame about the set back, but that's all it is at the end of the day, she'll be worth it in the end . A moment of someone else's carelessness is all it takes to damage all the hard work and effort but, at least it can be srted. I dare say Dan weren't too happy either. :daumenhoch: 8)

Can I just make this perfectly clear....the damage on the frame was there PRIOR to it arriving with Dan, Dan didn't realise the frame had come directly from the chromers up in york and not via me, and thought i was ok with the marks on it.

Thanks  :daumenhoch:

Rodgy, Am i fook I haven't got the funds to get chromed again for the 3rd time  :uglystupid2:
Dans gonna send the frame back to me without the colour on it and I'll see if it will polish up  :-\ :daumenhoch:

Mate, I was referring to the damage at the chromers or when it was in transit. If the scratches can't be felt on your fingertips and is on the chrome layer itself it should polish out nicely. Bit of a PITA but not impossible. Fingers crossed it is and it's easily rectified. ;)

Your patience astonishes me.  I would have lost the plot ages ago and set about the thing with a Stihl saw.   :(

Hope you can polish out the imperfections.  (were they caused by the courier on the journey from the chromers to SBD's?)

who knows it hard to tell, one thing i do regret is not calling Al on the day before i painted it, it just didnt seem

the quality show piece i was expecting and after reading all that Al has been through i really thought that he'd seen

it and was ok with the final chrome finish, we live and learn and i'm sure it will all be polished out, repainted and

Al gets his show piece :daumenhoch:

Sawzall and i just had a load of stuff done at Hampshire Electro platers in Southampton. It took 5 weeks and to say we're both happy is an understatement.  :4_17_5: :4_17_5:

We had our stuff back in 5 weeks aswell, just like they said.

Uploading pictures now for you.

They did about 3 or 4 sets of bars, a few sets of cranks and a seat clamp i think, they also stripped a couple of frames aswell.

Sawzall has used them a few times.

They rechromed his Hurricane BMX last year. Check out his me and my bikes.
