you're right lammychop, but if I'm going to have this ready to ride by the time winter's over I have to trim the budget somewhere!
Once they're out of the packet proper dx would probably start depreciating quickly anyway - figured pedals get the most abuse

at least the fusions are going into a nice crank  ;)

They are fine for an old school rider mate - they are genuine redline just new  :)

As for the term "re-pop" well it's hard to say that in this case because they never really stopped making them. The twin pinch varients initially popped up many years ago with a few minor variations since.

You can read more about redline cranks here : http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=26518.0

You may want to put up a wanted thread in the wanted section as you may get some new / hardly used ones from a RAD member for cheaper than the new ones on ebay just ask for "twin pinch redline cranks"

I have a set of the 180mm ones on my 82 supergoose rider and I much prefer them to the 175mm one peice I had on it initially and also to the alloy SR crank I had on it after that. Ideal OS rider cranks in my opinion.

I'm with John on this one. All the purists will rip into you about your cranks, but new Redlines are sweet cranks and look the nuts on a bike and can be picked up for sensible money on here all day long. 400's and 401's are for show ponies now, so chuck a set of twin-pinchers on and live the dream as we could never afford them as kids - both my freestyle my riders have them.......

n00b questions of the day today

what size seatpost clamp will fit an 85 master?
can an SR stem take a potts mod bolt?

what cables do i need if running a potts mod? (ie do i need a rear cable for the front as it's going a bit further?)

thanks as usual for any help!

getting quite excited now - should have F/F in a couple of days  :daumenhoch:

got another question for you Spen69 (or anyone else that knows!)

did you need any adaptors when fitting a power disc to your cranks?
was looking for a silver one but not sure of the spindle size & they will be a few days in the post

cheers

The top-hat washer to reduce from 22mm powerdisc / spider size to 19mm spindle size is in the cranks BB set when you buy it :daumenhoch:

evening all

so I came home today to find that not only had my F/F arrived, but also got my calipers and flight cranks through from alansbmx  :smitten:
the F/F had a sealed bb in already so I didn't need to buy one, but no top hat washer to be seen (or spacers)

anyone know where I can get some without buying a BB set?
[edit] also noticed in pics lots of ppl seem to have chrome caps on ends of spindles (my spindle bolts are dark metal with red washer thingys) do they push on/can you get those anywhere?

cheers

Alans sell the tophat washers separately.  £3 + postage.

Not sure about the spacers though...

thanks ozone! anyone know whether I will need the spacers/where I can get them (should probably ask harorider since it was his frame and he had flights on it before)

what about those chrome spindle end cap things - can they be found anywhere or am I being an idiot and looking at pics of different cranks?

answers on a postcard to the usual address  ;)

cheers

haha give me a chance - only got the frame this week (still need to get a headset before I can connect anything together)
will get some up as soon as poss but budget and lack of experience means this is probably going to be a bit slow for you lot ;)

thanks for all the advice though guys - without this site I probably would have been buying the wrong size bits  :daumenhoch:
actually without this site I probably wouldn't have turned into the BMX equivalent of a crackhead trawling the interwebs at night for shiny objects to put on a kids bike  :2funny:

honestly you lot!    ::)

my good wife has just emailed me to tell me that the nice post lady has brought my box from DP, so that's all my bits bought until I can get some more money together
apparently they had a nice chat on the doorstep about how the box was parts for a bmx. post lady said 'that's nice, is it for your son?' then they both had a good laugh when she said that 'actually no - they're for my husband as he's having a mid-life crisis and gone back to the 80s'

when I get back from work tonight I will take a picture just to keep you quiet for a bit, but you'll have to be patient as I'm a bit skint now

to date I have got

haro 85 master F/F in white, with sealed BB (need to get top hat/spacers before I can attach crank)
brand new flight cranks chrome 180mm
new DC bulldog calipers in silver
silver haro fusion DX style pedals
elina UL black saddle/layback post combo
DC tech 77 levers in silver/black

planned
chrome beartrap II headset
chrome bars - either haro/skyway/maybe GT or something not too wide want to be able to spin em easy
silver/chrome stem with potts mod
silver 1" post clamp
black/graphite tuffs
black grips (probably ame rounds but would like some like I put on my old bike bitd - think they were sharps? had separate bar ends you could screw in)
silver chain
whitewall tyres - ideally haro but haven't seen any about and probably dear as fook anyway
silver power disc + chainring - tuf neck style
