What chain tensioners were about on the race bikes early 90's fellas?

crupi, revcore, VG, profile? the ones that look like spurs you can get on ebay are cheap enough and work well and are identicle to the era correct VG ones, i got em on most of my builds, the only real set are on the supercross

The spur type i remember, I never used chain tensioners on my bikes until recently. I think winstanleys do the spur type at £6.99.
