help removing old bb
« on: September 16, 2010, 09:34 PM »
as titled i cant seem to get my old 3pc bb and cups out the frame
tried flat screwdriver from the back and a hammer and broke both aswell as almost my finger from geting a full man swing on it
sloted a solid t bar in and hit flat out with a pipe wrench and still nothing

......any ideas? not worried about frame paint condition aslong as its going to be a rat bike anyway.

Try using a large brass drift, hit it north, south, east then west then repeat, get even pressure all round the cup  :daumenhoch:

Better to crash and burn than fade away

Brute force and a large hammer, they will eventually come loose

Yarp!!

But dont use a screwdriver.............use an extension bar off a socket set with the 1/4" rounded square end at the cups.

Bigger the hammer the easier it will be!!

And when you reinstall some cups..................grease them and the BB.   It will make life easier when you have to remove/install them.  :daumenhoch:

have managed tp smash one of the bearings to pieces so can now get somthing brutal in there as a 19mm hole is not much to work with esp when the center tube is fitted

these cups have been in best part of 10 years as its an old s&m holmes just being a bitch.
