It's slowly starting to dawn on me from a few recent threads that I'm not the only one who has gotten all excited about building their missus a bike after they've asked for one for christmas, then created a beauty only to watch it quietly sit in the back of the garage gathering dust and not moving a bloody inch.

Mine seemed to like riding my '04 OM Flyer around last year, so after months of trawling the bay I eventually found another one. I had to put up with a 200 mile round trip in the car to pick it up, then went to work custom building it to her exact spec using favourite colours and everything. The flawless paint you see is Aston Martin Racing Green by SBD with pink SE decals by Del, and because I was so chuffed with the paint and decals I splashed out on a new flight crank, pedals, grips, etc etc until I was 100% happy with it. Got it finished late christmas eve for the first present of the morning...and I reckon it's travelled no more than a mile since. >:(

In summary, a total and utter waste of time and money. Next time I'll simply wander into Monsoon, shell out a couple of hundred on a gift voucher, then fook off down the pub for the rest of the day. Live and learn... ::)

Anyone else on here made the same mistake?

Yep, Mrs Robbo has a bespoke bmx. It gets used once a year for the London ride then just hangs on the garage wall.

A rare glimpse of the bike in action.... ::)

Funny cos I wanted to do the other half a nice old school freestyler but she prefers vintage ladies bikes and thinks bmx is Nerdy  :coolsmiley:

Bet that is a proper wounder though....my advice get it sold and get off your Nut on a proper bender with the Dollar  ;D

I spent all winter building trails for my other 1/2, she hasnt riden em once :P
Women, so ungreatfull  >:D

Be honist tho, if your other 1/2 was really into having a bike, they'd build one up themselves  :-*
If I built a bmx for blonde, she'd laugh and tell me to f off, haha and really thats the way I like it - u need something thats yours and yours alone,, well I do anyways.
