What crank for my master???
« on: September 17, 2010, 04:47 PM »
Guys,

Need your views as to what crank should go on my 86 master.

I know it should be a haro group 1 but finding one seems like a needle in a haystack and when i do its so bloody expensive!!!

Therefore what would be a good alternative to this, redline flight, sugino ct or gt etc

Your views will be appreciated.

flights always look good on a master - n you can pick up the new twin pinch ones at a reasonable price, 85 masters came with Sugino CTs, so that always an option if you want to keep it old school

No it was factory spec with a group 1 crank in 86, before that it was the sugino ct.

I'd go for Profile, Redline 401 or the Sugino CT as options.  Peregrine would also be a good choice but harder to find  :daumenhoch:.

Was going to say peregrine as well Marty good call squire  :coolsmiley:
Personally I would go with Sugino CT's Proper sleek cranks especially the A5's  :smitten:

The 85 Masters actually came with Redline 400s as a factory build. But I think the 84 Master may have come with Sugino CTs. You are right about the group 1s on the 86, I know 88 Masters came with Peregrine's & I think the 87 Masters came with a 1pc crank, but I'm not 100% on this, mine did, but maybe not all of them.

As others have said, redline 401's look great on most builds  8)

This was my 87 Master which came with a 1pc crank, but I think they also could have come with Peregrine 3pc cranks, maybe an option  :)

87 and 88 Team Masters came with Peregrine 3pc cranks and an Anlun sealed bottom bracket  :)

Non Team ones came with CR-MO one pc cranks.

And yes, Group 1 cranks are pretty pricey  >:( so I'd go for Sugino CT's, which are cool looking on a Master and more affordable  ;)

Cheers,

Laurent
