I was picking up some plastic play ramps from Doncaster on Saturday, not far from the track at Hexthorpe, so I thought it'd be rude not to have a blast on the track.
The track is fairly good, and does have quite an Old School feel to it, mainly as it's set amongst trees. The track needs some surfacing work, and not all of it flows that well, but I'd certainly rate is as Old School friendly overall. There is a huge double after the start hill which can be rolled/pumped at full speed, then a rising triple into the first corner that can be manualled (2 of the 3 humps) at full blast and probably ridden through very quick (which I didn't try as I'm rubbish at pumping). Second straight is m'kay. The 3rd straight has a pro section (big jumps too close together) and a junior section that was very OS and very fun with little doubles that can be jumped or manualled easily, table, small triples and little step-up double into the last berm and rhythm section.
Just thought I'd report back if anyone is passing and wondered if it was worth a ride, or if we ever fancy an OS meet there. It's only a short drive down the A1 from me, although apparently it's part of the Midlands for race purposes... (what's that all about when a 'North' track like Crewe is hours away and is further South?)
