New School Help Needed!
« on: September 14, 2010, 12:19 PM »
Is there such a thing?
I need a 1 1/8 threadless INTEGRATED headset that will accommodate a potts mod!
Or does it depend on the type of stem you use?
Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Nick

Yep, sure is!

Because the stem is clamped onto the outside of the fork steerer, there's plenty of room to drop a front cable down through the centre.

Is there a star fangled nut with the headset going onto your forks Nick or did the forks come with a screw in top cap?

What forks did you get? and what headset?

The forks belong to a 24" Knight Proformer and are still uncut. They have nothing attached or fitted to them.
I don't have a headset or a stem yet. If it depends on the forks then am I OK to get a threadless 1 1/8 stem of my choice?

So how many bits do I actually need?  :D

if your fork's top cap has a hole for the cable then yes you are free to get the stem/headset of your choice and do your Potts mod.

of course, even if your fork's top cap doesn't have a hole through the bolt you can get a cap that does, or not use the cap at all. Once you've got the headset adjusted up and the stem tightened the top cap is just there to look pretty so can be taken off. :)
