would it be possible to do some brazing with a refillable blowtorch that uses lighter gas?

you would need to grind off/remove the chrome to weld it, no major problem if your using them as it would be covered by the grips

cheers for the advice mate I'll be sure to grind the chrome down on that area, I've ordered the blowtorch now will lt you know how it goes

bear in mind you'll have to achieve temperatures above 840 F.

If they are for a rider then you would best go for a fused joint and get them welded using mig or tig.
