well chris moeller was only planning to make a couple for himself then a few mates asked for some so a run of 25 was made then a year or so later he designed the mad dog frame so no more k-9 d-zine frames were made iirc

Reckon that could be an urban myth mate. IIRC, the Mad Dogs were originally going to be called K9 D Zine but they changed the name to Mad Dog as Chris was getting tons of coverage as a BMXA tester so him and Greg thought that would boost sales (duh)! All Cook Bros made those frames, brake bridge plates squished really easy but a lovely frame.

Yep I've read that too but I heard from the horses mouth that the K9 D zine branding was on Chris's prototype but those first frames ended up as Mad Dogs. Who knows, who cares, same bike, different sticker! Speaking of which, there was a Mad Dog downtube sticker on ebay yesterday for about $300!!!!

would love to get my hands on an ACE, not seen one since i swapped mine in 82. rumour has it that ratty has one, here's my old one, the forks are Race Inc

With you there Ray, a very rare beast indeed.  here's my ACE Racing pro bitd:

me riding my baby...

My old race pants that saw action at Earls Court and getting a tear on the knee that required a patch after the very first time I wore tham LOL!

Sadly my ACE got stolen and was never recovered.

here's a pic of an ACE Racing bike that surfaced but I am not sure if Ratty actually got hold of it but it is the one you referred to...

Better to crash and burn than fade away
