Mad Dogs and Englishmen (and Irishmen)!
« on: August 15, 2010, 12:32 PM »
Just found some old pics, may have been posted before so forgive me if you've seen them.

This red Mad Dog was (as far as I know) the first S&M in Europe, was owned by Glen Leyburn, one of the Jive guys from N.I. (Will Smyth was also in the Jive crew for all you newbs). This one had a bit of a story as it had a missing weld on one of the dropouts, this would have been a Cook Bros made one. The pic was taken at the first organized K.O.D. comp at Slough BMX track in 1988. I have some good pics of Glen riding it somewhere.

This next pic is my black Mad Dog, again Cook Bros made, this pic would have been taken in 1988 also, check out the Son Lite hubs on there too. That's not me on it, it's Andy Please.

Last pic for good measure, Will Smyth at that 88 KOD, no foot bar grab on his old Robinson.

Isn't it weird though how time makes the mind go fuzzy as I couldn't tell you for a minute when or who I sold that frame to (or any of my frames for that matter)!

Roots! love the nofooterbargraber.  To be honest in 88 i'd all but forgotten BMX and was probly in a club somewhere dancing to 'the dance' or some other post acid, post electro techno or bleep track, haha,,, mmm or was that 89 :D.  Glad I rediscover BMX in about 92.

Clive, that mad dog was the bike I had when I moved to Bournemouth 20 years ago. It was the frame with the "missing weld" on the rear non drive side and was featured in a Jive sticker. I sold in around '91 ish to some guy in Hull, I think (Up north at least).

It had yellow landing gears on it back then.

Well at least you're proving that old saying right about the hammer being the Irish 'multitool'! ;D

So anyway, about the hubs, remember, I know what you (we) paid for them!
