hey everyone
just fitted a NOS Nikyo headset to my ride for MK and realised that there is a fair bit of fork between the grip nut & locking nut. now i havent used a spanner on the locking nut yet cus i just need to know if i needed some more spacers between it all or just use a spanner and tighten the locking nut down to the grip nut leaving the excess fork showing. please let me know. cheers.

I've had this same issue on one of my Kuwahara's - just use headset washers to fill the gap. I used some from a couple old headsets.

used some NS 1" 1/8 spacers
they do the trick!
the locking nut is big so it covers them perfectly and they dont move around

you may find they do in time though and the headset will always work lose as a result, Halfrauds will have some if you can't find any local shops with them

Is it a freestyle bike? Some freestyle forks are longer so you can install a gyro (the old Odyssey type).
I had this trouble once before... I got my hacksaw out and cut of the excess steerer - problem solved.
