Help with Identifying a Mongoose Frame Please......
« on: July 25, 2010, 09:43 AM »
Ok, got this from a guy who found it doing a house clearance and although I know it is a Mongoose, I don't know which model.

It has 3 holes in the brake bridge at the rear and seems to have quite thick rear tubing......Serial number is K300

I know its a November 83 bike but can any of you Geese Experts tell me exactly what it is? (Pics Below)

Cheers Steve.  :)

3 holes in the brake bridge normally means it's a supergoose.   :4_17_5:

Ping some proper photos up of it.

gusset or non gusset ?????

The location of the serial number and the fact it doesn't start with M suggests it may be a US made model....Most likely a Supergoose.

Yep as Xgoose above posted. Good luck with finding forks though, took me about 9 months to find some for mine.

Even though Jonnygoose Bobbafett is busy changing Nappies being a new daddy, the rest of us 'Goose nutters can confirm that is a US Supergoose 3. The rest of the bits are shite, but the frame is a great find :daumenhoch:

If you want to sell it, PM me as I sold one about a year ago and regret it every day >:D

OK thanks everyone....so it does appear to be a Supergoose then.. :)

Now the bad news....it has a few dints/dings on it  - whoever had it before must of treated it like shite.. :knuppel2:

I've heard brazing can be applied and then shaped back to original frame shape....is this worth doing or am I just wasting
my money spending cash on it?
Not really sure what to do with it really....

If you do the dents you'll have to re-chrome it so that will cost about £150ish inc postage so probably more than it's worth when it's finished ;-(

That's assuming chrome plating will stick to the repair - if not, it will have to be powdered which will de-value it as they only ever came in chrome. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong about the chroming.

Spen

Ps - or bring it to MK and I'll buy it off you or swap it for something as all my bikes are suvivors so the dents are fine... ;-)

If you're trading that frame with Spen for tea and sugar, at least try and get a 2nd sugar out of him.  :coolsmiley:
