Here's my 1st carpet queen build!!
« on: July 18, 2010, 10:32 AM »
Here's my 1st attempt at building up a show pony(this was the bike i could never afford as a kid), this is just a  1st attempt at uploading a picture. I'll add more pic's & tell you a bit about the history of the bike later on. Thank's for looking chap's ;)

As promised, here's a bit of info on the bike.....it's a Haro Sport Freestyler 1985(August) NOS, this f/fork's was found @the begining of this year in a shop basement in Maryland(USA). Some guy bought it in the local ad's & listed it on Ebay US, i won the bid then it got lost in the post :'( . I received a full refund thru paypal, then i get an email from the guy to say that US Postal had returned it 3 months later...result!!
He offered the bike back to me, but could'nt wait 4 week's for me to get me pay cheque so he re-listed it back on the Bay. So basically i bid on the bike again & win the auction for far less than the original price :)

The f/forks are minty fresh, the only marks are two little one's on top of the left fork other than that it is spotless. The decal's where original silver backing but where in a state of disrepair, so they came off then a good polish & new repro one's applied. I've built this up just in time for its 25th Anniversary come August(all i need are some black shimano DX's to finish it off).

The list of component's are as follow's...Haro Sport 85(NOS),Anlum Sport h/bars, Haro group 1 stem, tioga beartrap 2 h/set, original forkstander's(came with the f/forks), dia compe mx 1000 quick release/self centreing brakes with tech 3 levers, dia compe mx hinged s/post clamp, show chromed CW layback s/post,kashimax aero saddle, skyway tuff 2's (polished) alloy hubbed wheels, kenda whitewall tyres, Tommy Bracken 'signature' mushroom grips, tioga beartrap btm bracket, sugino 1piece crank(84),haro multi-directional chain wheel, sugino spider, izumi black/chrome chain, shimano chrome freewheel. This bike cost a nice tidy sum to build up, but i am really stoked with the end result......thank's to all you fellow Radster's for the nice comments ;)

Here's some more pic's of the Sport & two extra one's of my future builds.....it's down a slippery(&very expensive) slope from here on!!...but i'm lovin it :)

Very nice.... but please loose the braced layback

They should be all collected, melted down and made into hatstands or something less offensive on the eye....  :angrysoapbox:

Rant over...  :D

Very very nice , 85 frameset and bars in blingy  chrome

Where did you pick that one up , cool first build BTW

It'll ride nice too being a sport  ;)

LOL at Betty's quote  ;D ;D ;D

, non of my builds sport a laid back, but everybody had 'em " in the day "  a proper  must have part  ::)

I like em on the right build (just  not braced ones)

I'm not a fan of hatstands

 but framestands are cool  8)

Cheer's dordymush for pointing out the spider maybe on the wrong way round(much appreciated ;)), i checked it out & i think the spider is correct as the writing of sugino is on the front. I've got a feeling it is the chainring that needs to be bolted onto to the other side of the spider, as closer inspection shows the chain is not lining up straight.....doh!! :idiot2:

It seems i'm a tad rusty when it comes to building up bikes....though it has been 24 odd year's or so. Thanks again fella ;)
