Dear speight9587,

These are  twin pinch flight cranks .... even tho authentic redlines.... I could buy them in a box for £90...... ?

Hi. Agreed but these have a rare excellent condition Redline chainwheel and a sealed Redline bottom bracket as well. Thanks, Mark.

My question

Hello, are you sure these are 80s cranks ? the twin pinch redline
cranks came out in the 00 & you can still buy them.

His answer

Hi.

Thanks for that but, what I'm saying in my listing title is: Redline Flight Cranks for old school vintage 80's BMX bikes.

I'm not stating old school vintage 80's Redline Flight Cranks (as I would if they were single pinch 400's or 401's).

They're new cranks for old bikes. I'm not advertising them as old cranks.

Thanks, Mark.

- speight9587

I might report him to ebay, the fcuking twat

You know, im probably gonna get called for this, but I dont think he is doing anything wrong.

He is describing them as what they are.  Redline Flight Cranks...  He also states they are 'suitable' for old school BMX's, thats it.

From the thread above I imagined the auction containing a shady little photo where you couldnt make anything out.  But no, crystal clear high res images clearly showing they are clearly twin pinch.

Now if some idiot who doesnt know his arse from his elbow (or his 401's from his twin pinchers) wants to pay £150+ for a set of £90 cranks then more power to the seller.  Why should we spoon feed numpties who dont do any research.  I honestly cant believe that some one is prepared to splash £150 on a pair of BMX cranks without doing the necessary research into what they are buying.

More power to the seller... Were all just jealous it isnt our auction anyway.

+1 - These are new school IMO so he has no business using Old School BMX in his listing.

I thought Mark Speight had hung himself anyway.    :-\

gotta agree with you mate, does not state they are the old school redlines and you can clearly see in photo they are new twin pinch model and don't want to get into names and all that but someone on rad recently sold a used twin pinch with well used bb for £130 to france and that didn't even have the old school chain ring with it either :-\

The title says.....

Redline Flight Cranks for Old School Vintage 80's BMX

Why not say for new or old skool BMX  ???

He is trying to misslead & you think that it okay    ???

+ that is not an old skool chainring  ::)

hi , ive bought from this guy and i got a bargain. i do see what ur all saying here some one has defo been ripped off. but i know of a guy who bought an x box for 60 quid off ebay when they first came out. the description was x-box box. and guess what he got .... a box that an x-box came in. obviously he argued with ebay and he lost. the item was as described an x-box box. so this guy hasnt done anything wrong in ebays eyes. but in probabaly most radsters eyes he has.  caviar emptour = buyer beware.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's been very careful with his wording, obviousley a lot of good faithed buyers think they're getting a bargain.
He's an absolute shuffle munsterer in my opinion :2gunsfiring_v1:

If you think it's OK to pull the wool over someones eyes for not "reading up" on their cranks, is it also ok when tradesmen rip people off because they don't research before paying 5000 on a new sink? :daumenhoch:

I'm so cheesed off the way everyone is out to f%&k you over at any opportunity.  They hide behind bent rules or small print to justify what is basically stealing.  Nasty FOOKERS! :knuppel2:

Don't care what he says or how carefully he listed the item.  It's wrong to misslead people.    :Aresehole: . I'm not in this BmX thing to get ripped off, I'm in it cos I love it and it FUN!!!!

Both those descriptions are almost identical ???.

I like where they say the chrome is 10/10... things don't usually rust within a month of being made ;D

I'll stand by my comments.  And add to that, any one who doesnt do enough research to pay £5k on a new sink (I know that was a random example, but still) deserves everything they get.  Thats why you get two or three quotes.  Do some research and you dont get stiffed.

He's not pulled the wool over anyones eyes (other than perhaps the extremely stoopid).  They are Redline cranks that ARE suitable for old school bikes...  Fook me, half of us probably have a set so they must be suitable, and I bet 90% of the twin pinchers sold by Redline have ended up on OS bikes, so why advertise them as NS cranks if most of the market are searching for cranks to fit their OS bike?

Seriously, if they havent done any research before paying up they deserve everything they get.

If I put my £215k flat up for sale for a million quid and some idiot buys it, I am gonna run a mile with a suitcase full of cash.  I am not gonna tell him its only worth £215k cos that would make me the idiot.

BTW that's not saying your  for sale title is even slightly misleading  :)

, just that , again if people are wise enough to research they 'll benefit by , buying an item for less

THere are loads of people who buy items on here and sell for a profit on Ebay , fair play to em

I haven't sold a thing on Ebay nearly 400 feedback of just buying  :D  I sell stuff on here usually by pm at the price I bought it at

I'm definately not in this hobby for the money

that doesnt mean to say that i wouldn't   put a bike on Ebay  at a price that's slightly over the odds  and if it go's it go's

but I'd make sure the title was totally clear

I don't like repop stuff as a rule either .

Last time I had some twin pinch was a couple of year ago I think,,, yes on a 83 Quadangle  :crazy2:

It wouldn't have been too hard for the guy to describe them as what they are - modern versions of 80s cranks but he has been intentionally vague about the differences between the two.  A bit like the guy who sold a set of prolines on here as flights to a respected member who knows plenty about the hobby (or business depending on your point of view) and shouldn't be described as a numpty because he trusted another member of a BMX forum.

Yeah, people who are into the hobby for the financial side of it would probably do a bit of research but there are newbies (or numpties as you put it) out there who will buy them believing they are 80s cranks and that's why people have a problem with this guys choice of wording.
