16" Tuff advice needed
« on: June 08, 2010, 02:15 PM »
How'do all

I'm looking to start a resto on a mini burner and want to stick on some mini Tuff's. Doing it on the cheap as it'll only get trashed.

Have seen these on eBay but i don't know where I'd source the axle's from etc

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Skyway-Wheels-16-tire-Mini-Bike-Chopper-Wagon-RD-/220614509834?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Go_Karts&hash=item335da6450a

Any help would be appreciated  :daumenhoch:

And if your mini is a mark one the tuffs won't fit as axels are only 8mm

or go for the 16" raleigh mags which they came with, probably easier to get (over on burnerworld) and a lot cheaper!   :daumenhoch:

don't go for those ones, you'll need to buy the ones with spindles like these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Skyway-Tuff-Wheel-16-White-Freewheel-NEW-/290437426961?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item439f6b6f11#ht_500wt_928

Oh right. Why's that?

Oh right. Why's that?

If you think you can find bearings and such - go for it - let us know how you get on

Better still ask ed at colouredtuffs - I'm sure he'll know, he may even stock all the parts -  bearings and such

Only asking chap. no need to take offence. I don't know why they would sell them like this if it were so hard to get the spindles and bearings etc, that's all

OK. Thx. I thought up to £20 + p+p.

I have to say though I am a bit anal when it comes to Mag Wheels and do like my Tuff's. They need to be Red or Black though which seem to be a bit harder to come by. I also need a reality check that it's not a show bike I'm building and they are gonna take a beating...

Cheap and cheerful is definitely required here

OK. Stupid moment...

What does this mean?  :-[

They also have a tiny BB and crappy cotterpin crank  :crazy2:

How will I know if the BB is small as I have nothing to compare it against? And what's a cotterpin crank?   :-[

Feeling quite naive and unknowledgable at this point  :-\

I have been tempted at doing a replica mini TA with the mini Burner...

Whatever I decide to do, do I need to by mini versions of any components? (I've noticed the crank is much shorter but not sure if everything is scaled down???

Really just the crank is shorter , and possibly the bars.

I cut the bars down a little to make them not so wide for my son to ride

Hi mate, I have a chrome mini burner with black tuffs that I was about to strip. It's survivor condition and I haven't seen it for a while but I'm sure it's in decent nick. I'll look it out and let you know ...
