Good point Captain

Some firms were far ahead in the developement stakes like S&M so they would be considered Mid school before the likes of Haro. who didn't produce anything resembling Mid school till much later.

So maybe it's about the firm not the year.

The technology has been evolving since day one & bikes released in the early 90's are different to those released in the later 90's.  The very term 'mid skool' is something of a misnomer imo...

I personally feel that there are 2 generations of mid school too. It began in 87-88 with S&M, Auburn, Kastan, etc. and the 2nd generation of mid school (93-94) was when everything went to 1 1/8 headtubes and canti/ V-brakes. I'd say the end of mid school would be 98-99.
