true mate .but they are good cheap bikes
theyare heavier than old school for sure im just getting used to mine which is now the flair it weighs in at 33lbs which is tad heavy by about 3 lbs or so but not bad for new school at all.the 540 actually felt better to be honest although not much difference but cheaper

I also didn't want a new school bike to weigh a ton. My beergut makes up plenty weight on its own. I think it must be made of stainless steel too. I went for a S&m Stricker frame. i haven't built it up yet, so don't know what the final weight will be. Terrible one barcode has a good reputation.
