Survivor or nos?
« on: May 20, 2010, 05:23 PM »
got e few survivor bits and bobs lying around and was just thinking that i realy like these old bits  :daumenhoch:, battled scared from the years of use and abuse ,  got to thinking again about nos stuff and how cool it is to get new stuff shiney in packets from years ago , all well and good ,,,but the old used stuff apeals to me even more , maybe its the tinkering about trying to get them to look new or the enevitable point at which you give up and think that'll do ,  so NOS or Survivor?

im building another show pony at the mo but recently got hold of a blue ano pro neck stem in nice survivor shape, not my cuppa usually as i like all things minty, but for some reason im totally digging this stem and am reallly looking forward to seeing it battle scars 'n' all on my latest build.

It's really difficult to get survivor parts to match - most survivors I've had have changed over the years and normally come with shit 90's/00's parts added. To change these for nice 80's survivor parts in the right colours can be quite difficult.

I prefer them a bit battered.  I wanna ride the things... even if it's just to go the shop for a loaf.  They're bound to get scratched sooner or later and I don't want to scratch a 2 grand BMX.  There's also no way I'd pay what some of those nos parts sell for!!!!  Mingers for me (bikes). :)
