1983 Hutch Pro Star Build
« on: May 20, 2010, 04:19 PM »
Ok gents finally got my 1983 Hutch Pro Star finished today, purchased the Pro-Star frame from a seller in the States, it was a real Pro Star survivor frame ( not a Pro Racer turned into a Pro Star ) the chrome was still quite nice on it and of course it still had the original decals which have survived quite well.
Was initially going to re-chrome but then it would have lost its character, the forks what came with it were rusted to hell so they were swapped out for another set of Pro Star Forks, i've had to put some new decals on the Forks so they are the only un-original decal on the bike.
Then proceeded to try to buy survivor Hutch parts for the bike so it would be exactly like it when it came brand new from a store BITD, finding survivor parts has been nigh on impossible so some have been re-chromed ( shame but i did try to find all untouched bits ) all the parts are original and there is no re-pop stuff on this bike right down to the Hutch tyres and Hutch Radkaps
Anyway full rundown of the parts is:
1983 Hutch Pro Star Frame and Forks ( stamped Pro underneath BB )
Hutch Deep H Stem ( Rechromed )
Hutch Pro Bars
Hutch Black Grips
Hutch Headlock
Hutch Aerospeed Cranks and Aerospeed Disc ( Crank Arms and Disc Rechromed ) with Original Hardware
Hutch Beartrap Pedals
Hutch Seat Black ( I have a Black Kashimax Aero Seat coming soon so will see which looks best on it )
Hutch Straight Seatpost ( NOS )
Hutch Seatclamp
Hutch Chrome Zapp Pads
Hutch Black Rad Kaps
Hutch Tyres ( I believe they are called Mudpluggers? )
Tange Pro Star Headset ( Came with bike )
Dia Compe 1983 MX1000 Rear Caliper with Tech 3 Lever.
Black and Silver Izumi Chain
Arara 7X Chrome Rims ( NOS )
Shimano MX30 Freewheel

Anyway people have a look at the little demon and see what you think, granted its not as bling bling as some Hutch Pro Stars which have been built up but i did try to keep it original and keep its character and i think those are equally as nice as the shiny ones.

nice build Marty, like the originality. Looks fresh out of the De Lorian, ridden by Doc Brown, all the way back from the 80's.
