Extending Handlebars
« on: May 13, 2010, 04:19 PM »
I'm looking at getting some bars extended before I get them refinished (they've been cut down a couple of inches each side)...
Has anyone done this, or recommend somewhere/someone to do it?  ;)

the simple way to do and ive done it is to buy some renthal motorcycle bar ends which bolt into the ends of the bars and have an external diameter of 22.2 mm which is the same size as the bars and then slide you grips over the top
ive ridden with these and they never move and the bars are now 2-3" wider :daumenhoch:

They will be ridden, but probably not raced/thrashed....

I ride with some bars that have been extended, not as nicely welded as the pair in the reply above, but I've been riding these for a year - been fine so far.

I trimed them down to about 1" wider than they were originally (s&m slam bars, by the way) got them second hand from a friend - he had cut em about 1" ither side.

I cannot see them snapping off easily, if ever.
