So it wasn't a priority to add the ammaco built geese to my collection but I always said if they popped up cheap enough then I'd grab 'em.

Well...................  :LolLolLolLol:

Kev (KDW712) tipped me off a short while back when an 84 Grand Prix complete had just been added on ebay with a £60 buy it now so I thought fook it - if I'm gonna grab one this is it. It was in pick up distance so £60 total for the full bike  :)

All original but fookin rusty  :buck2:  :LolLolLolLol:

So here is the original ebay pic..........

And here's the rusty little fooker after i got it back home...........

Needs some TLC  :LolLolLolLol:

I'm spending fook all on this ( well as close to as poss ! )

So it's lemon juice / vinegar / foil etc. and if the likes of the chainwheel can't be rescued cos they're too far gone then some chrome appliance paint may get used  :2funny:

Ahh well it'll be a laugh.

Low priority this fooker so I'll just keep this diary rolling with updates in between my other builds.........

Thanks for the tip off Kev (I think  :-\:LolLolLolLol:

Only messin' mate - nice one  :daumenhoch:

Looking forward to the next update  :daumenhoch:

That may well be what happens  :LolLolLolLol:

I'll try and save the frame first but some of the other bits I'm sure will need coating - I'm not re-chroming anything that's for sure

It'd cost more to re-chrome the wheels than it cost me to buy the whole bike  :LolLolLolLol:

Are the forks bent?  They look like they have a lot of rake on the eBay pic. :-\  Nice find and an easy fix if the forks are bent...

Right then stripped everything down and hit the frame with vinegar and tin foil  ;)

Quite pleased how it's cleaned up so it's staying chrome and the decals look alright too.........

Result !  :LolLolLolLol:

Peeled the rim strips out of the wheels and the were caked in rust  :buck2:

Thought they may have been bin fodder but..........

Hot soapy water scrub and they look OK........

As for the rest of the bits well.........

They're pretty fookin rusty   :LolLolLolLol:

Into the big tub for the non-alloy parts.........

Loads of vinegar to be added ! :crazy2:

 :D

Still determined to spend fook all on this build  :LolLolLolLol:

Right then back onto my budget fun build  :D  :LolLolLolLol:

I decided vinegar or lemon juice would be too much of a waste to fill the tub so I used water mixed with citric acid powder that I got on ebay.

After 24 hours in the tub the rust was mostly just eaten away !

Before :

After :

OK so they're far from perfect but they'll do for this little cheapo survivor build

Really good work John  :4_17_5:

It's a shame thought the rust has made a lot of holes in those rims.
One build a year, the only way to get it right. No rushing involved.
