picked this up yesterday and not sure what to do with it.
the way i see it i have a few choices, let me know what you think
the frame has had a repair done (see 2nd pic) the forks are nos so they are staying blue
1) leave as is
2) smooth the weld and re anno red
3) smooth the weld and anno blue
4) smooth the weld and polish the frame
the bars are for sale btw

Nice buy that
If you anno'd the frame Blue would the forks match or would you have them re done?
What about keeping the forks Blue and powdering/painting the frame , White maybe
Powder/paint could possibly hide the repair better , but hey
do i know
Good luck with whatever option you take

personally i'd get the repair smoothed off, then stripped and anno'd red...think it would cool with the blue forks

Personally, I think there's something to be said about restoring to the original colour (if needed)
Love the skin you're (bikes) in

Restore it and anodise it as per the original colour, don't polish it.

The forks are original paint and perfect so I would get the frame annodised blue to match them (I think they did do a painted option as well though I would look into it a bit more)
The one thing I wouldn't do is ride it as that is the 2nd weld repair in that area (the first one only lasted a day or so and the 2nd was made much bigger) and it will be weak as fook even worse if it's ground back (but for a show bike only I would grind it back)
Got that frame for Christmas in 1982 and raced it for the first half of 1983. My sister raced it till early 84 when it cracked for the first time. It was rewelded in 1986 at Wearside College in Sunderland and I think raced once then cracked again (again rewelded). It had one outing in the 90's river jumping just north of Newcastle.

As already said, get it repaired and re-annodised; Paul at Custom Colour should be able to sort the colour out for you; I'd go red too to keep it original. I know a top alloy welder based near Uxbridge in Middlesex if you need one; this guy has done alloy welding on Aston Martin race and classic cars as well as countless other projects. Even done a fix for Steve P and we know the quality he expects and produces himself
