One of the best bowls, even if you were three feet out of the top you could add another three for the take off point as it curved away at the top. happy memories.

Spent many happy hours at Wicksteed - just the first thrill of riding round the top of the bowl and dropping in was the best

wish I still had pics

Used to go there loads in the early `80's, remember the 18 footer used to have a pond in the bottom! full of slime and all manner of shit, never baled into it myself, but saw a few lads go head long into it!

That `quarter pipe' on the far side of the cigar was mental, could anyone ever ride it? transitions were all wrong, very hurty!

Lien to tail on it... it was a death thing as all your speed got killed by the slope up to it!

When I first went.. if you look at that last pic... the bowl at the bottom was full of water and used as a remote control boat lake!

I saw David 'Chilly' Childs doing framewhip jumps over the big 'tit' in 85/86

and 6/7 airs out of the bowl

He's a LEGEND - I'm sure he won't remember but I was in there once on my own and I saw him outside looking in and went over, he had no cash so I paid for him to get in and he just owned the park... RULER. :coolsmiley:

:) That big bowl was scary as hell.I went there when I was about 11 and it was flooded. My Sure-Grip board went in and I jumped in after it and got stuck! My mates couldn`t get me out & had to get help from some old grandads who dragged me out with a bit of rope.. :daumenhoch:

wicksteed was proper radage!!!! why oh why did they flatten it.when i used to go bitd on my dp i was only 12/13 so couldn't rearly knock out anything big cause i was a little skinny thing.then in late 80's skated there alot and got fairly decent.........but would love a crack at that 18 footer now to see if i could grab some air!!!!  :LolLolLolLol:  :LolLolLolLol:  :LolLolLolLol:

i probably either fill me looners or crash & burn anyway  :LolLolLolLol:

quality times was them 1980's  :smitten:  :smitten:  :smitten:  :smitten:  :smitten:

I know what you are saying Deno.

I could do airs at the top but just rolling round the edge and dropping in then airing over the hips was great.

These things always look smaller on camera than they did at the time... and at the time that bowl felt SO BIG!

Still trying to get my mate to go look in his parents loft for the pics of me riding it ... 'get up there my son'  :knuppel2:

Used to drive up to Wickstead Park in an old MKIII Cortina with 2 mates, bikes all stacked in the back, loved this place, riding round the 18 footer and dropping in, could n't beat that rush. True it did have some water in the bottom sometimes but I don't ever remember it being sooo deep but then I never rode it in winter time!
Great memories wish I had some photos to add  :-[
