Haro Master finished ???
« on: April 25, 2010, 03:45 AM »
This is how it arrived from the USA the Chrome isn't that bad at all but under the black paint the Chrome is all gone so the frame was delivered to SBD to work his magic on it.  I have sent the frame and forks, Bars, Stem and Dia Compe seat clamp all to be powdered.  I have decided not to go for the standard Haro Green as I always thought it was a bit dull compared to a DP back in the day so I am going for a much more lairy green as seen on Steven Costas and Firebird Steves DP's in the museum

Got The Brakes 880/901 in Blue from Daz BMX Blue with Green DC Cables
Got The Pedals Shimano SX in Blue.  From Vert Ego Blue Shimano SX
Got The Grips Blue Ame Round's From Vert Ego
Got The Seat Elina UL in Blue from Different Path
Got The Stem...  Green Redline Forklifter
Got The Bars... Haro freestyle Bars in Green
Got The tyres... Green Haro's from Vert Ego
Got The Chain blue YBN.  From Alans BMX
Got The Inner Tubes
Got The chain ring redline polished silver
Got The Seat Clamp Green Dia compe
Got The Cranks Redline Flights Twin Pinch
Got The wheels in waiting to be fitted.  Araya Super 7x's on peregrine hubs (Suzue Sealed 48s) built by JT Smooth these are Boooooootiful...   :smitten: :smitten:
Got The Shimano Freewheel
Got The HeadSet Tioga Bear trap ii
Got The Trick Nuts Skyway in Green
Got The Chain Tensioners
Got The Forkstanders from USA
And of course got the obligatory dice valve caps

Transfers are being made by Del including a Blue redline transfer to go on on my stem and Haro stickers for the bars
The Frame ect are currently with SBD.  can't wait to get them back all freshly powdered

Thanks :daumenhoch:

I've found the Chrome on these part painted ones is not normally very good around the headtube & BB so I would paint it  :daumenhoch:

You could go for Green but I know it is quite hard to match, or have you seen the blue 86 Master on page 14

Here........

That RADbandit has, I think that looks sweet  :)

The good thing about these 80s Haro's is so many colours go with them :coolsmiley:

Yeah I think a repaint might well be in order as I don't like the black. I was always a fan of green aswell. I will get some pics up when it arrives :daumenhoch:

They're not cheap nowadays are they.  I remember when Skatepool used to put NOS Master and Sport framesets on eBay for £150.  They had loads as well, frames from '85 to '89 and maybe beyond.  That was about five years ago, though.

I remember building bikes was a lot easier (and cheaper) then as Vert-Ego, Alans, Skatepool and Rudewheels ::) had loads of NOS gear for sale.  Those were the days. :'(

Looks like a nice little project you have there. :daumenhoch:

The Two Pack as it's closer to the original finish (85 Haro's were not powder coated) and will give you a closer colour match  :daumenhoch:

PLUS, Dan does a fantastic job with a spray gun regardless of what base metrials he's using  :4_17_5:.

At the time it all still seemed a little expensive. On reflection....no  :(  , £5 for blue Tech 3's, £6 for blue mx seatclamps. I could go on...Kashi's £20.

It's about 12% duty on bikes plus VAT, then parcelforce wanting £8 - £14 for paying it for you. The knobs take your property and hold it ransom until you pay them. Scandalous bastards.

They also add the cost of the postage into the value. So 12% plus 17.5% plus ransom money for your bits plus uk delivery costs 99 pounds and some change to get a £240 frame and £80 postage. I was not a happy bunny this morning. Rip off Britain :Great_Britain:

I feel your pain man.

I had an XL24 shipped back, and the douchebag put down the full value, so I paid 125 quid all in for a 25 year old bike frame that was 700 bucks.

At least Dick Turpin used to wear a mask..

Thanks Weeksy... so true about Dick Turpin.  The Twonk I purchased it from put a higher value on it so I had to pay extra.

I Will have to wait to send it to SBD for the paint to be done  :daumenhoch:

it is expensive but you do have to look at it from the sellers point of view i guess??  if it did get lost and he had to pay you back, he wouldn't get anything back from his side if he only put a small value to it.  it's just a painful thing you have to take buying big bits from the states.

drop em and take it like a man  :'(
