My New Haro Freestyler
« on: April 20, 2010, 07:12 AM »
I bought this '84 Foreign Freestyler' as a complete bike some time ago off fleebay, its changed a bit since then too.   I am a complete Haro convert!

This is how it arrived:

and these didn't show the harsh rust on the other side, it pretty much looked like it came out of a pond, but was solid.

So I had it stripped and painted by Neil who did a brilliant job, and was very much helped by Jj to get it there (thanks Buddy!) dropping it off to Neil on his way North.  Del supplied the decals.

and this is its current state, most parts are NOS and it will be tweeked a little bit just to finish it off . . . hope you like it?   :smitten:

Ben

Cheers Rob, glad you like it, I'm smitten!

I will do the tyres at some point, I have just received some green cables to put on it, I'm going to replace the crank with a minty refurbished one Chromo one and the seat post will be replaced for the original Reynolds 531 once I have had it re-chromed.

Not a great deal really, just a little tweeking  ;)

WOW

How it should be done an 84 freestyler with 84 parts ( Sx's and 901/880 's )
:coolsmiley:

one piece  good choice, brakes, good choice (prefer a 880 on the front for perfection  :daumenhoch: ), Z's excellent choice instead of Tuffs for this build

Very nice  :4_17_5:

Excellent work.  :4_17_5:

Nice one  :daumenhoch:
I'd go for a 880 front, them 901 are useless if you plan any trick, will hit the frame... and such a nice paint work doesn't deserve that

Lovely Z's. :smitten:  A blue DC seatclamp would look ace but they are well pricey these days. :crazy2:  The Tuf Neck looks nice, too.

Great save man. You've really done it justice :daumenhoch:
It must give you a real Buzz.

Like the others, I think the 880 front is a must.
I don't feel like I have the right to comment but perhaps a black seat might be nicely off-set by those cool Z'ds.

Either way, you done a great job 8) :daumenhoch:

Very nice and the colour combo is great, but others mentioned 880's or 901's on an '84??     No, no and thrice no.

It's your ride and I'm not telling you how to build it, that is of course your prerogative, but to suggest putting 880/901's on a freestyler from '84 is just wrong (imho).
