BB thread
« on: April 02, 2006, 07:14 PM »
Can anyone tell me what size the bb thread would be on this?

[/img]

I had bought a crupi euro bb and the alloy cups just won't take the thread?

Thanks

Paul

not sure what the thread size is

but Alans has the shimano UN72
http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php?products_id=1147

i picked up a UN73 (newer model) for £15 off ebay for my euro BB bike
or a UN53 which a bit heavier and cheaper

always give him a ring to confirm thread sizes are ok

You could try Mavic or Campg road stuff, some of the early Euro BB's had French thread sizing, different TPI and opposite threading (tighten up the opposite way).

Jeez
just googled this and theres british italian french and swiss types

though reading on french and swiss are the same so are the british and italian  ???

the common one is british according to sheldon brown

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_e-f.html#euro

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html#british

so the answer is 1.375 (35mm) x 24 tpi  :D we hope ! :daumenhoch:

Cheers Kev,

I suspect that the isis cups are the same though and they wouldn't take to the thread. I'll have a closer inspection of the thread make sure they run true to the edge of the bb shell.

Whipped the thing down to the local shop, and reamed the threads again. It would appear the chromgot into the threads - typical because it got where I don't need and where I do want there to be chrome it is coming off :idiot2:

BB fits nice and snug now :daumenhoch:
