Hutch Frames?
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:15 PM »
Is there a website with all the Hutch frame sizes, tube sizes and angles etc?

All the Hutch race frames +the judge +hollywood look very similar in shape.  Basicly I want to know which is the bigest/longest.

Well, its a long story  ;D

I turn 40 this year.  I still ride a fair bit - I was thinking of getting a custom made bike frame with a hutch twist to it, so I've been googling for the last two nights looking for any pics + info.  I would like an original, but Its a lot of money & I'll more than likely break it - im fairly heavy these days ;D.

Me too  :D

I sort of did a rough idea for a frame last year, nearly won a comp to have it built up for free if you won.  I came 2nd I think, haha.  But yer, loads to think about - alot more to it when you sit down a draw a few ideas out + from an engineering tec point of view I'm green as, haha.  But I think bikes tend to crack under the headtube on the main down tube mostly or where the seatstays meet, so I'm guessing they would be the bits to worry about.

Get Standard to make it, they already have the looptail rear ends ready to go :daumenhoch:

totally agree about the stress points, espically on the down tube , perhaps a bit of double butted tubing is required. i've got a pre serial  Hutch Pro Racer... cracked at the seat stays/seat tube weld!! and it looks like it broke in the aforementioned down tube location and has been re finished, not brilliantly.

Cheers, yer I had them in mind - I was wondering about the looptail because I couldnt see any on the standard website in the custom page - must be tricky to do a loop.

I had a word with someone who has a NOS hutch frame today.  They are going to let me borrow it for a while just so I can check it out.  I'm not sure what model frame it is, but it is a race frame - hope its a pro star  :D

I asked if they might sell it, but they said they wouldnt as they know I will build it, ride it & kill it, haha - they are probly right :-[ , he used to run a bike shop - but is retired now.  If I promise to build a show bike he might sell, haha.

Cheers again Ron '2elliot' Burgundy.

On another topic, I think Standard need to re-invent themselves with the newschool riders in the UK - the kids seem to hate standard (in general), or look upon them as bikes for old men.  S&M seem to have done this(keeped cool and underground with the kids) & S&M is older than Standard, haha.  Standard make killer bikes.

Thats not bad, if its a street/park bike then cool, if its a race bike mount the brake lugs on the top of the seat stays not underneath

21" TT
75 degree head angle
71-72 degree seat angle
Internal campy spec headset
Mid Bottom bracket
rear length and BB height will vary depending on what you want to ride (race or everything else)

More for trails and a bit of messing about on race tracks, doubt I'll ever race, but you never know.  Why would you put the lugs up top on a race bike?  I know most do, but whats the benefit?

What’s the difference "size wise" between a Pro Racer and a Pro Raider?
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Cool, so a Pro Racer would make an Ok O/S rider for a bit taller than Spen  ;)

What sort of price do Pro Racers go for these days ?

 :)

Look what I got today :D
On condition I never ride it - just a show bike.

Hutch hubs to collect on Monday.

Going to have to wait a while now before I can build a replica Frame  - still going to design it for now.
I'm not really into having a bike I don't ride properly, but I did always want a Hutch, haha + I payed a fair good price for it.
