ive got to the point where i now need to start looking for a seat and pedals for this, but i dont know where to start, its a '97 so something roughly period correct is needed, i dont want it to be all stock gt branded so wondered what parts would people have fitted in '97?
this is it so far...
97 gt speed series frame
lg forks
profile cranks
profile chainwheel
sun bfr rims with sealed hubs
renthal type bars
shimano xt rear canti brake

Looking sweeet, loving the mix of parts
Just picked up some clear Jive Tentacles from here
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/shipsharoo/m.html?_nkw=jive&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3911.m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=0&bkBtn=1
I see they've got some nice clear blue, clear red and white left as well
No idea on seat & pedals though, sorry.

i know u dont want it all gt but a gt speed series seat would be perfect for it
as for grips odi longnecks are period correct and are easily avalible for under £10
as for pedals if u dont want gt then get some shimano dx's

nice one for the responses guys
as soon as i read odyssey i had a thought, ive seen one of them in the garage! went and dug it out and it looks good, it is a little dirty though and stumbled across a specialized mtb saddle in the same box of bits that is very similar in design so thats on there until i clean up the odyssey one.
as for pedals....... who knows at the moment, ive not got a lot of money left for this now, so might just wait a bit and see what pops up

I would lose the Renthal bars and get GT or Slams, renthatls are too old
GT Big Man pedals are a must on that

the tyres arent staying on it i just had these in the garage to get it rolling, the renthal bars i know arent right in terms of age but i like them coz there polished alloy like the frame and really look good on it when you see it and match really well. as for pedals...hmmmmm still undecided as yet i might just go with dx's as cant really go wrong with them, again whatever goes on there i want to be polished alloy, ive just got a thing for polished alloy at the moment

id like em its just i cant be arsed to strip them and polish them
i started on the stem today and my hands hurt like fook after all the sanding and rubbing...
it was battered, might not even use it just wanted to know if it could be saved really
after a dunk in the oven pride
ive filed all the dents out, tomorrow ive gotta polish it
not that ive got a shiny alloy fetish or anything
